Frequently Asked Questions
Can I take the theory exam in Russian?
No. By Serbian law, the MUP theory exam is only available in Serbian, Albanian, or Hungarian. We prepare you for the Serbian test in Russian — you'll know all questions and answers and understand the terminology.
Does Serbia recognize Russian / Ukrainian / Belarusian driving licenses?
Yes, but only for 12 months from the date you receive your residence permit. After that, your foreign license is invalid in Serbia — you must obtain a Serbian one.
How many practice hours are required by law?
A minimum of 40 hours of practical driving — this is a requirement of the Law on Road Traffic Safety. Hours are recorded in the training diary.
What if I'm already a good driver?
40 practice hours are mandatory by law and cannot be reduced. However, if you're an experienced driver, lessons will go more smoothly — the instructor adapts the program to your level.
Do I need a residence permit to enroll?
Yes. A valid residence permit (boravišna dozvola) or white card (potvrda o podnetom zahtevu) is required to enroll and take the MUP exam. Tourist visa is not sufficient.
How long does the entire process take?
On average 2–3 months: document collection (1–2 weeks), theory (2–4 weeks), practice (4–6 weeks), exam registration (1–2 weeks). Timelines depend on your intensity and MUP schedule.
Can I exchange my license without taking an exam?
In some cases — yes. Serbia has agreements with certain countries. For citizens of Russia, Belarus, and Ukraine, direct exchange is generally not possible — an exam is required. We'll check your situation during consultation.
